Privacy, Blind Matching & Consent Policy
Effective September 9, 2026 · Last updated September 9, 2026
The Mystery Date (“The Mystery Date,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a matchmaking and blind-dating platform designed to introduce individuals to potential romantic connections without requiring participants to view one another's photographs or full identity information before meeting.
By registering for, accessing, or participating in The Mystery Date, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy and agree to the practices described below.
This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, and Dating Safety Rules.
1. Our Blind Matching Concept
The Mystery Date is intentionally different from conventional dating applications.
Participants may be matched with another participant without first seeing that person's photograph, social-media profile, full name, or other identifying information.
By participating, you understand and expressly agree that:
- you may be matched with a person you have never met;
- you may not know the identity or physical appearance of your match before the date;
- The Mystery Date may use information you provide to determine compatibility;
- our matching process may be assisted by automated systems, algorithms, software, or human matchmakers;
- a match does not guarantee romantic compatibility, attraction, chemistry, safety, or a successful relationship;
- you remain responsible for deciding whether you wish to continue communicating with another participant after meeting them.
The purpose of the blind format is to encourage participants to consider personality, values, interests, lifestyle and compatibility before making judgments based primarily on photographs or appearance.
2. Information We May Collect
Depending on the services you use, we may collect information such as:
- name;
- age or date of birth;
- gender and/or gender identity;
- dating preferences;
- city or general geographic area;
- relationship intentions;
- interests and hobbies;
- lifestyle preferences;
- personality characteristics;
- communication preferences;
- family and relationship goals;
- preferences concerning children;
- religious or philosophical preferences, where voluntarily provided;
- sexual orientation or dating preferences, where voluntarily provided;
- information about preferred partner characteristics;
- information provided through questionnaires;
- communications with us;
- booking and participation information;
- feedback following a date;
- technical information associated with your use of our website.
We only intend to collect information that is reasonably connected to providing, improving, securing, or administering our matchmaking services.
3. Sensitive Personal Information
Some information used in matchmaking can be particularly sensitive.
This may include information concerning:
- religion or philosophical beliefs;
- sexual orientation;
- gender identity;
- ethnicity or cultural background;
- relationship and family circumstances;
- sexual or romantic preferences;
- photographs or other identifying information;
- information contained in private communications.
Where we request information of a sensitive nature, we will seek appropriate consent and explain why the information is being requested and how it may be used.
Canadian privacy guidance generally recognizes religious beliefs and information relating to sexual orientation or sex life as sensitive information requiring a higher degree of protection.
You are not required to provide information that is not necessary for a particular matchmaking service, except where the information is reasonably necessary to provide the service you have specifically requested.
4. Your Express Consent to Matchmaking
By selecting the applicable consent box during registration, you expressly authorize The Mystery Date to collect, use and process the information you provide for the purpose of:
- evaluating compatibility;
- identifying potential matches;
- creating compatibility profiles;
- determining whether two participants may be suitable for one another;
- communicating with you about potential matches;
- arranging or coordinating dates;
- providing relevant information to your potential match;
- receiving and processing post-date feedback;
- improving our matchmaking processes.
You understand that withholding information may reduce the number or suitability of potential matches.
5. Automated and Algorithm-Assisted Matching
The Mystery Date may use automated software, algorithms, scoring systems, artificial intelligence, statistical methods, rules-based systems, or other technology to assist in identifying potentially compatible participants.
The matching system may consider factors such as:
- age compatibility;
- geographic area;
- relationship goals;
- lifestyle;
- personality;
- interests;
- family goals;
- communication preferences;
- religious or philosophical compatibility, where voluntarily provided and permitted;
- dating preferences;
- other information reasonably relevant to matchmaking.
You acknowledge and consent to the use of these systems for matchmaking purposes.
An algorithmic recommendation is not a determination that two people will be compatible. It is only an assessment based on information available to the system at the time of matching.
We do not guarantee that any algorithmic match will result in attraction, compatibility, friendship, romance, marriage, or any other relationship.
6. Human Matchmaking
The Mystery Date may supplement automated matching with human review.
Our employees, contractors, matchmakers, or authorized service providers may review information you provide for the purpose of identifying potential matches or administering the service.
Such individuals will only be permitted to access information necessary for their responsibilities and should be subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
7. Religious and Philosophical Compatibility
Where you voluntarily provide information concerning religion or philosophical beliefs, you authorize The Mystery Date to use that information for matchmaking purposes, subject to applicable privacy law.
You understand that:
- religion or philosophical compatibility may be considered when identifying potential matches;
- you may be matched with someone who has different beliefs;
- we do not guarantee religious compatibility;
- we do not endorse, judge, promote, or discriminate against any particular religion or belief system;
- participants are responsible for deciding whether differences in beliefs are acceptable to them.
Where possible, religious or philosophical information should be used to facilitate participant preferences rather than to make assumptions about an individual's character, morality, suitability, or worth.
8. Physical Attraction and Appearance
The Mystery Date recognizes that physical attraction can be a legitimate part of romantic relationships.
Our blind-date model is designed to delay appearance-based judgments rather than deny that physical attraction exists.
By participating, you understand and agree that:
- you may meet someone whose physical appearance does not match your expectations;
- photographs may not be provided before the initial meeting;
- physical attraction is subjective;
- The Mystery Date does not guarantee physical attraction between participants;
- participants are free to decide whether they wish to pursue a relationship after meeting.
The Mystery Date does not guarantee that a participant will meet another person's preferred physical characteristics, body type, height, appearance, or perceived “sex appeal.”
Participants must treat one another respectfully regardless of physical appearance.
9. Dating Preferences
You may provide preferences regarding the type of person you would like to meet.
These preferences may include age range, gender, dating orientation, geographic area, relationship goals, lifestyle and other characteristics.
You understand that preferences may affect the availability and number of potential matches.
The Mystery Date reserves the right to determine whether a stated preference can be accommodated while complying with applicable law and our policies.
10. No Guarantee of a Match
Registration does not guarantee that The Mystery Date will provide you with a match.
A match may not be available because of:
- insufficient participants;
- incompatible preferences;
- geographic limitations;
- scheduling;
- safety considerations;
- incomplete information;
- inaccurate information;
- platform capacity;
- changes in participant availability;
- other operational or legal considerations.
We may decline to facilitate a match where we reasonably believe doing so would create a safety, privacy, legal, or operational concern.
11. No Guarantee of Identity or Representations
The Mystery Date cannot guarantee that every participant will accurately represent themselves.
Participants are responsible for providing truthful and current information.
You agree not to:
- impersonate another person;
- provide deliberately false information;
- misrepresent your age;
- misrepresent your relationship status;
- create multiple fraudulent accounts;
- provide misleading information for the purpose of obtaining a match;
- use another participant's information for harassment, stalking, fraud, or other improper purposes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe information has been falsified or our rules have been violated.
12. Participant Safety
The Mystery Date facilitates introductions. It does not guarantee the behaviour, identity, intentions, character, criminal history, relationship status, or suitability of any participant.
Participants should exercise reasonable judgment and meet in public places.
You should never feel obligated to:
- continue a date;
- disclose your home address;
- provide your financial information;
- provide intimate photographs;
- engage in sexual activity;
- continue communication;
- disclose information you are uncomfortable sharing.
If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, you should leave the date and contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement service where necessary.
13. Post-Date Feedback
Following a Mystery Date, we may ask you to provide feedback concerning your experience.
This may include:
- whether you enjoyed the date;
- whether you would meet the participant again;
- compatibility feedback;
- safety concerns;
- conduct concerns;
- general experience ratings.
You authorize us to use this information to determine whether a second introduction may be appropriate, improve matchmaking, protect participants, identify inappropriate behaviour, and improve our services.
We will not publicly publish your private feedback without appropriate authorization.
14. Mutual Interest and Contact Information
Where both participants indicate that they would like to continue communicating, The Mystery Date may facilitate a further connection according to the features and procedures applicable at the time.
We will not disclose private contact information beyond what is reasonably necessary to provide the service without appropriate authorization, except where disclosure is permitted or required by law.
15. Confidentiality
We will take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or destruction.
However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
You acknowledge that information transmitted over the internet may be subject to risks outside our reasonable control.
16. Information Sharing
We may share personal information with:
- authorized employees and matchmakers;
- technology and hosting providers;
- booking or event partners where necessary to provide a service;
- payment processors;
- customer-support providers;
- professional advisors;
- service providers acting on our behalf;
- law enforcement or government authorities where legally required or permitted.
We will not sell or disclose sensitive personal information to unrelated third parties for purposes unrelated to providing or improving our services without appropriate authorization or legal authority.
Where third-party service providers process information on our behalf, we will take reasonable steps to require appropriate confidentiality and security protections.
17. Marketing Consent
Marketing communications are separate from consent required to provide matchmaking services.
You may receive communications concerning:
- your account;
- potential matches;
- dates;
- bookings;
- safety;
- service updates;
- promotions, where permitted.
Where required, promotional communications will provide an appropriate method to unsubscribe.
Withdrawing marketing consent does not necessarily terminate your matchmaking account.
18. Retention of Information
We will retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to provide services, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect participants, comply with legal obligations, or otherwise as permitted by law.
When information is no longer reasonably required, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it.
19. Your Right to Withdraw Consent
Subject to applicable law and reasonable limitations, you may withdraw consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information.
You understand that withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing some or all matchmaking services.
For example, if you withdraw consent to the use of information necessary to determine compatibility, we may be unable to provide matchmaking services to you.
Canadian privacy guidance states that individuals should generally be able to withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
20. Access and Correction
You may request access to personal information we hold about you and request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, subject to applicable law.
Requests may be submitted by email to themysterydate4@gmail.com or by text or phone to (647) 680-3688.
21. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, business practices, or applicable law.
Where a change materially affects how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we will provide appropriate notice and obtain additional consent where required.
23. Important Notice
The Mystery Date is a matchmaking and introduction service. It is not a guarantee of romantic success, attraction, compatibility, safety, marriage, or any particular outcome.
Participants remain responsible for exercising their own judgment when deciding whether to communicate with, meet, or pursue a relationship with another participant.
Nothing in this Policy is intended to exclude or limit any right or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
